Highlight of 2016: Dog Portraiture

January 11, 2017  •  Leave a Comment

I'd like to start off by apologising for the complete lack of updates on our blog - we seem to find ourselves so busy we don't have time to post! However we're planning to change that, as one of our resolutions is to keep the blog up to date with all the new things going on at Ph2o (and we're always doing something new!)

Here's what we've been getting up to in 2016...

In addition to our weddings, studio portraiture and commercial work, we did some equine photography in the summer, which was great fun and allowed us to think artistically in different ways than we would in the studio (a full blog post on this coming soon!) We've done a lot more pet photography during the year, including having a kitten in the studio, and a huge increase in dogs, since we had stalls at a couple of dog shows. It's always great fun having dogs in the studio!

It's amazing how differently all the pups react to the photo studio environment - some are so laid back and relaxed, some are so excitable! We love working with the owners to create the best shots that really show each dog's individual personality. Often people look at our shots and say, 'Look how well behaved that dog was, mine would never sit still enough to get a photo like that!' Well the truth of it is, we have to snap at just the right second and catch just the right moment, at the split second the dog is doing what we want. And we're well practised in this method, as it applies to not just dogs, but all pets, babies, children and sometimes adults too!

We've also been using different creative shooting and editing techniques, and we are developing new styles all the time (which we will continue for 2017). We've got big plans for the new year, and we can't wait to get it all started!

If you'd like to book in for a photo session (maybe the dogs have left you feeling inspired!) please do not hesitate to send us and email or give us a ring.
