Barrow Farm - Riding for the Disabled Association

May 11, 2017  •  Leave a Comment

I recently had the pleasure of going down to photograph ponies at Barrow Farm, our local branch of the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA).

All the wonderful people at Barrow Farm do amazing work making horse riding and carriage driving accessible to people of all abilities. Riding provides therapy, achievement and enjoyment for all involved, and there is a brilliant community spirit around the farm. Although there is more information available on the Barrow Farm website, some of the numerous benefits riding brings include:

- Improved balance and co-ordination

- Increased suppleness, joint mobility and muscle tone

- Helps to improve general health, both physically and mentally.

Barrow Farm is very much like a family - everyone pulls together in every way they can. As they put it on their website, they are all about "Fitness, fulfilment, friendship and fun!"

Although riders pay a small fee toward the cost of their ride, over 70% of Barrow Farm's running costs have to be sourced elsewhere. Therefore, they are heavily dependent on the wonderful work of their volunteers, fundraising and donations to continue providing this amazing service to amazing people.

How You Can Help

Volunteer

Fundraise or Donate

Every donation, no matter how small or large, is a great help toward the cost of running the farm and is much appreciated. To learn more about the brilliant work Barrow Farm does and how you can get involved, please visit their website.
