Sarah & Stella's Equine Lifestyle Portrait Shoot Edit2_5849

"I'm going to shoot Sarah's horse" was probably an unfortunate remark to make to Sarah's mum! 

I visited Sarah and her 'spotty monkey' Stella at her yard in Suffolk, where Stella lives with approximately forty other horses! (And the yard cat, of course!) Sarah wanted some photographs of Stella and was up for anything to get some creative results, which is always great to allow us photographers to work our magic!

We were lucky with the weather, warm but not too hot, although the sun couldn't decide if it would stay out or hide behind cloud - so we had lots of time for photos, since we didn't have to worry about dodging between raindrops! We had a walk around the yard grounds - there were lots of great locations to shoot in, which means we got a variety of different shots. I also used a combination of my two classic styles, the 'light, airy & whimsical' style and the 'contrasty & dramatic' feel to create different moods from the shots. Sarah had come prepared with multiple outfits, which is always great for choice on a shoot like this - we used a few different looks, one a long dress, one smart outfit and one casual jeans and top. Stella was good as gold and was happy to go along with our ideas as long as there were yummy treats to be had!

After 4 hours of shooting (and posing, and chasing Stella around a field) we'd got loads in the bag and had earned ourselves a drink.
